The Telehealth Launch Requirements Checklist

Every state guide on this site covers the same nine areas, each with the agency or statute that governs it. This checklist is those nine areas as a worksheet, so you can confirm each one for the states you will serve before you build the technology, and then re-verify immediately before go-live.

• Licensing authority

  Which board licenses each clinician type, and the supervision agreements the state requires.
• Telehealth practice standard

  The statute or rule that defines telehealth, its standard of care, and whether audio-only is allowed.
• Out-of-state practitioners

  Full license, telehealth permit, or interstate compact, and any in-state agent requirement.
• Patient consent

  What must be disclosed before the first visit and where consent lives in intake.
• Practitioner-patient relationship

  Whether it may be established remotely, and identity and location checks at every visit.
• Prescribing via telehealth

  The state's remote-prescribing rule by profession, controlled-substance limits, and the pharmacy and merchant-of-record setup.
• Ownership and corporate practice

  Who may own the clinical entity, the management-services structure, and the medical director arrangement.
• Business registration and fees

  Formation or foreign registration, tax registration, permits, and any clinic or facility license.
• Privacy beyond HIPAA

  State consumer-health-data law, breach-notification deadlines, and health-claim marketing rules.
